PLAN E starts in May 1995 with Jani Lehtosaari
[distorted bass], Reetta Säisä [keyboards] and Reima Kellokoski
[drums]. Immediately the band recorded a demo, while in August Kellokoski
joins Impaled Nazarene. Niko Karppinen [soft bass] joins PLAN E and Lehtosaari
decides to take care of vocals. In November-December a studio sessions
was made at Tico-Tico Studio. In April 1998 start the recordings for the first album at Tico-Tico Studio. The long pause was occupied by another single called "Lunarscapes" including a new remix by Jori Hulkkonen. It was released in May on green 7" vinyl. The debut album sees the light on October 1998 on Lehtosaari's label Solardisk. The name of the album was "Songs For A Rainy Day". In November Leinonen moves to USA but the original trio continues. In November was realised the first promo-video "Shape Shift" finished in November. 1999 starts with great news… "Songs
For A Rainy Day" cd was licensed to Root Of All Evil Records with
a Joy Division cover as bonus. In February 2000 the recordings for the
new album start at Tico-Tico. In august was released a Split-cdep with
the US-band Climb To Zalem while the recording sessions for "Found
And Lost" album finished at Soundmix Studio in November 2000. “Found
And Lost” sees the light in March 2001, but a week after the release,
original members Kellokoski and Säisä leave the project. Throughout the year the recordings for the album were realised. "Best Kept Secret" was mixed and mastered in the winter 2003-2004 and so they started to look for a recording deal… while drummer Heikki Haataja becomes a permanent member of PLAN E. Two new bass players, Ilari Kinnunen [formerly guitarist in Nazca] and Lene Leinonen [from Terveet Kädet, also earlier a PLAN E member in 1997-1998] join PLAN E early 2004. After a licence in the Russian territory with the label Irond Rec., in the spring 2004 arrives the deal they wished for. The Italian label MY KINGDOM MUSIC offered them a two albums deal and the first one of this has been just “Best Kept Secret”. The deal was signed…!!! The realese scheduled for October 20th, 2004 and many was really shocked and surprised by their minimalist, melancholic plan-e-tarium. New keyboard player Jaakko Vanhala joins the band late February. But for Jani and co. it was not enough and immediately they started to work to the new album, the 4th full-lenght of their career and the one that will celebrate their 15th anniversary. The group records nine pre-productional demo songs in April 2005 at the local studio. "Bassonova" is the title and it is definitely recorded at Tico Tico Studio in summer / fall 2005 and released on March 3rd, 2006. But it is not the end... as a special gift to all their fans they present a virtual album with 24 ongs called "Ten Years On Autopilot" destined to celebrate their 10th anniversary. This virtual album contains the very first demo track ever recorded, songs from every PLAN E release in chronological order with rare compilation tracks, B-sides and some previously unreleased stuff. |
